I’m worried that their purchases are so random what’s going to happen when the money starts running out and they find out that some of these purchases weren’t that sensible? More closed studios and people out of work, that’s what’s going to happen. People talk about Microsoft not being able to manage all of its new acquisitions, but who will be in charge of that small part of Embraer? There should be an interface between them and the Toaplan people, but who? And more importantly why? Lord of the Rings, a couple of two-bit developers, and the company that owns all of Toplan’s back catalog?! he’s mad. The list of companies he’s bought this week is so random it’s just insane. I understand that many people are unhappy with buying anything that isn’t tied to Microsoft, but the Lord of the Rings story makes it clear that they are positively preferred (whatever they are) compared to Embraer Group.
The success of the Xbox Series X has nothing to do with innovation or cleverness, just Microsoft’s bank balance.Įmail your comments to: Don’t have enough games? Just buy all that makes them? Not enough people buying your console? Use your infinite battle chest to run ultra high value service at a loss for years, until you bankrupt the competition. However, this is yet another example of Microsoft using only brute force to rise to the top. The more people who join, the closer it gets, so it’s not a waste of money for them in any way. Of course, it doesn’t matter if it turns out to be profitable, but I think we can bet that if it did, Microsoft would be singing that fact off the rooftops.
Especially when they now make very little money from first party game sales, because everyone knows they can play them for free on Game Pass. They have 100 or so games on the service and are always rolling out new ones so yeah, that’s an expensive thing to run.
Really interesting to see what I think is the minimum amount Microsoft will ever pay for a game on Game Pass and it’s still half a million. If you focus on the story, then as a show, I think it will be good. I think the problem with The Elder Scrolls is that a lot of people don’t really follow the story and just walk away and do their job, so they lose track of what’s going on, even though Only they beat the game. The Redguards are also pretty unique and it would be interesting to see them outside in a bit.
Maybe let’s cool it down a bit on dragons, as there’s a danger of being a little too high, but things like lizards and cat people aren’t something you see on TV in many fantasy worlds. I wonder if the Fallout TV series is successful will it be based on The Elder Scrolls? I know a lot of people would say that its fictional world is too generic but I’ve always thought it was a little unfair. We want to shoot real people but not so real that we feel guilty about it. At least zombies are scary or intelligent enemies can talk to you. You see the need for cannon fodder in a lot of games and that’s why nothing like Avengers works, because fighting goofy robots that never talk is no fun. For years it was Nazi and then when people got tired it was zombies, and now we need something else. Not only were they riding the wave of general popularity in movies and TV, but the one thing video games have always needed is a human-like foe that you can kill dozens of times and not feel bad about.
It’s clear why zombies were popular for so long.
Sure, there are still some games being made with them, but it’s no longer the pandemic where every other game used to have ‘dead’ in the name. It took a long time, they were massive for well over a decade, but I think they’ve eventually gone out of fashion. That news about Dead Island 2 made me realize two things 1) I don’t care about Dead Island 2 anymore and 2) Zombies have finally started dying out as video game villains. considers the hidden costs of Xbox Game Pass, as one reader imagines The Elder Scrolls TV show.Įmail yourself to join the discussion Have zombies finally gone out of style?
